Getting thereFly into Parnaíba Delta (PHB) or drive 4.5 hours from Fortaleza (FOR) to Tutoia or Porto dos Tatus. Reaching the actual kite spots within the delta requires chartering a private boat or joining an organized 4x4 downwind tour. Parking fees vary by mainland port lot.
HazardsComplex, labyrinthine channels with extreme tidal currents, moving sandbanks, and wind interference from coastal trees and dunes. Never attempt this spot unguided — no cell service, no standard beach rescue, real risk of getting lost or caught by unpredictable wind gradients. Offshore wind anomalies possible near river mouth curves.
Best time of dayMidday through late afternoon when trade winds sweep cleanly over the outer sandspits. Sessions need to be timed tightly against local tide tables for the flatwater windows over the outer delta sand bars.
