Getting thereAbout 45 minutes east of Parnaíba Delta Airport (PHB) via the BR-343. A car is needed for the village; free parking directly on sandy tracks or outside the beachfront pousadas. The wide, unobstructed beach fronting the main village strip is the primary launch and rigging area.
HazardsA massive tidal flat recedes for hundreds of meters, exposing sharp shell beds and small mud holes at low tide. Watch for the real side-shore current dragging riders toward the Macapá river mouth, and wear booties against hidden underwater debris.
Best time of dayAfternoon, August-December, when equatorial trades get heavily accelerated by thermal suction from the dry interior. Mid-to-high tide gives the best depth over the coastal flats and avoids the long low-tide walk.
