Getting thereNear Al Khor, about 1 hour north of Doha via the Al Khor Coastal Road. A 4x4 is recommended for the bumpy, unpaved salt flats leading to the mangrove shoreline; free off-road parking. The open beach just north of the marina and kayak launch is the safest staging ground.
HazardsBordered by dense mangrove roots, with sharp underwater rocks and mudflats that dry out completely at low tide. Check tide tables closely β an outgoing tide generates real current through the narrow mangrove channels, with no emergency rescue boat infrastructure.
Best time of dayHigh tide is genuinely critical here for adequate depth over the shallow sand and mud shelves. Afternoon sessions work best when regional northerly winds get a thermal compression boost along the coast.
