Getting thereAl Dhafra region, about 1.5 hours west of Abu Dhabi city center via the E11. A car is essential for this remote coast; free parking at Al Mirfa Public Beach or adjacent hotel harbor lots. The wide sandy bay is the primary, unobstructed launch zone.
HazardsHighly variable water depth with extensive hidden sandbanks and sharp shell beds exposed at low tide. There's genuinely no localized rescue infrastructure on non-event days — stay clear of the active fishing boat lanes near the harbor walls.
Best time of dayAfternoon, November-April, when regional Shamal winds or local thermal gradients blow steadily cross-onshore. Early afternoon has the most reliable wind before desert temperatures drop fast at sunset.
