Getting thereYas Island, Abu Dhabi, roughly 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport or 1h15 from Dubai. A car is required; free parking in unpaved sandy lots right behind the launch. The dedicated seafront area near the island's northern tip has the cleanest access.
HazardsSharp submerged shells, stones, and sandbars can create unexpected ankle-deep hazards at low tide — booties are worth having. Changing tidal heights significantly shrink the available launch beach and create real current in the channels.
Best time of dayAfternoon, September-April, when regional NW wind is reinforced by thermal heating over the island's flat terrain. Afternoons also line up well with higher tide cycles for adequate depth over the shallow coastal flats.
