Getting there45 minutes west of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) via the O-32 (Gülbahçe exit). A car is needed; free parking on the packed sand and gravel behind the local kite centers. The wide grassy and sandy spit near the IZTECH university coast is the main access.
HazardsAn extensive shallow sand and mud shelf runs for hundreds of meters, but hydrofoils will strike bottom close to shore. Genuinely beginner-friendly, but watch for sharp shell fragments in the shallows — booties are worth having — and follow strict zoning separating schools from freeriders.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the Meltemi gets thermally reinforced by the hot Aegean interior for a flawless side-shore blow. Midday catches the daily wind build as the thermal stabilizes across the flats.
