Good to know

Getting thereA domestic flight or drive to the Kabatepe ferry port near Çanakkale, then a 1.5-hour car-ferry crossing to Gökçeada island. A car is completely necessary for the unpaved coastal tracks down to Aydıncık Beach; free dirt parking right behind the surf centers. The wide sandy strip between the salt lake and open sea is the primary launch.
HazardsThe spot splits into an offshore flat-water side and an onshore wave side depending on the Meltemi's angle. Watch for the genuinely strong offshore wind states on the flat-water side — they can sweep a rider out toward the open Aegean fast, making a rescue boat arrangement with a local center essential, not optional.
Best time of dayMorning through late afternoon, May-October, when the northerly Meltemi blows with real consistency. Relies on seasonal pressure gradients for a reliable all-day window, good for both freestyle and twin-tip training.
