Getting thereAbout 3km downwind from the primary PK25 kite camps in Dakhla. Access requires a downwinder ride from the main hotels or a pre-arranged 4x4 sand track transfer; parking limited to off-road tracks on the cliffs overlooking the spot. Staging is directly from the long, flat sand spit.
HazardsWind blows strictly offshore at extreme velocity here, creating perfectly flat, glass-like water but a real risk of getting blown into the deep lagoon center. Never ride here without a dedicated safety rescue boat token pre-arranged with a local camp seabase.
Best time of dayLow-to-mid tide on a falling cycle, when the sand spit blocks ocean swell completely for a world-class, ultra-smooth flat-water speed strip. Morning through early afternoon gives the cleanest wind before midday heat brings minor dune turbulence.
