Getting thereMainland Oman, about 4.5 hours south of Muscat via the interior highway. A car easily reaches the paved ferry terminal area; free parking in the large lots adjacent to the boat ramps. Staging is from the wide tidal sand flats just north of the concrete ferry pier.
HazardsA genuinely high-traffic maritime thoroughfare with public car ferries, supply vessels, and local fishing boats moving through deep channels. Stay strictly inside the shallow flat-water lagoon pools, away from the moving ferry paths and the pier walls' real wind shadows.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when summer monsoon wind blows cleanly across the flat lagoon with a slight thermal boost from the warm desert fields. Time sessions with high tide to clear the shallow mudbanks and shell beds.
