Good to know

Getting thereAbout 1h15 west of Muscat International Airport (MCT) via Route 1. A car is essential for this Al Batinah region spot; ample free parking directly on the wide beach sand flats. Main launch is in front of the resort beach or near the watchtower island.
HazardsAn extreme tidal range exposes massive mudflats and rocky reef shelves around the offshore islands at low tide. Check tide tables carefully โ€” water can recede for hundreds of meters, and the incoming tide creates real current through the island channels.
Best time of dayAfternoon, May-September, when intense desert heat drives a reliable thermal sea breeze. Arriving after 1pm gives the most stable onshore/cross-onshore tracking, ideally coordinated with a rising tide.
