Good to know

Getting thereDhofar region, about 1h15 west of Salalah International Airport via the winding zigzag mountain road toward Yemen. A rugged high-clearance 4x4 is completely mandatory for the steep, unpaved gravel switchbacks down the cliffs; free off-road parking on the dirt flats. The long, secluded beach is the sole access.
HazardsA fully open ocean setting with a real, punishing shorebreak and massive wave sets during summer monsoon season. True beginners should avoid this entirely โ€” deep water starts instantly, sharp cliffs flank the downwind boundaries, and it's a highly remote zone with no rescue services.
Best time of dayAfternoon, during autumn or spring shoulder seasons, when thermal sea breezes blow smoothly cross-onshore. The peak summer Khareef monsoon brings extreme swell and heavy fog dropping visibility โ€” winter or spring is genuinely safer for riding.
