Getting thereAbout 35 minutes from Almería Airport (LEI) or 2 hours from Málaga (AGP) via the A-7. A car helps for gear; free street parking along the urban beachfront (Playa Serena or Playa de los Bajos). The wide open areas away from the central hotels give the best launch space.
HazardsSmall pebbles and coarse sand slope off quickly into deep water. The prevailing Levante wind blows side-offshore or offshore here — flat water, but a real risk of being blown out to sea without boat rescue available.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon for the cleanest Levante, or late afternoon when local thermals help stabilize the cross-shore flow. Weekdays avoid the heavy foot traffic along the resort promenade.
