Getting thereAbout 1.5 hours east of Montevideo Airport (MVD) via Route 1. A car is essential to move between spots; free parking along the Mansa or Brava promenade roads. Playa Mansa near Parada 12 gives immediate flat-water access; Playa Brava handles the open-ocean wave setups.
HazardsPlaya Brava has a real ocean shorebreak, big rolling wave sets, and genuine rip current along the rocky headlands. True beginners should stick to the protected Mansa side — watch for strict summer swimming zones and tourist boats anchored in the bay.
