Getting there16km south of Naxos Airport (JNX) and the main ferry port, about 25 minutes by car or local KTEL bus. A car or scooter is highly recommended for the narrow, winding tracks; free dirt parking behind the main sand dunes. The southern section of the crescent bay gives the most direct, spacious entry.
HazardsThe Meltemi blows with real side-shore force, and the launch zone can get tightly crowded with kites and windsurfers. Watch for a real shorebreak at high tide and sharp rocky reefs flanking both headlands downwind — no dedicated public rescue boat here.
Best time of dayAfternoon, June-September, when the northerly Meltemi gets accelerated by a strong thermal and compressed between Naxos and Paros. Usually on by 11:30am for an incredibly steady cross-shore tracking angle.
