Getting thereDirectly north of Tarifa town center along the N-340, about 1.5 hours from Málaga Airport (AGP). A car is required; large public lots at Los Lances Norte near the stadium or the beachfront cafe shacks. The expansive beach managed by local club fields is the primary launch and rigging area.
HazardsDuring Levante, wind here genuinely runs offshore to side-offshore — confirmed directly against multiple local sources, not just assumed — meaning a downwind drift here really can carry you out to sea. A rescue card (Sea Angels or similar) is strongly recommended before riding in Levante conditions, more so than at Valdevaqueros nearby.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when regional wind combines with daytime thermal gradients for a smooth cross-onshore blow during Poniente setups. Post-midday gives the coastal breeze time to fill in cleanly, past the morning swimming crowds.
