Good to know

Getting thereLangkawi Island, about 15 minutes from Langkawi International Airport (LGK). A car or rental scooter is preferred for gear; free asphalt parking at Pantai Cenang or Pantai Tengah. The beach near the northern end of Pantai Cenang gives the cleanest launch away from the main resorts.
HazardsHeavily packed with tourist crowds, jet skis, parasailing boats, and banana boat tours โ€” real informal safety zones matter here. Watch for concrete resort retaining walls downwind and sudden, genuinely dangerous tropical squalls bringing abrupt wind shifts.
Best time of dayLate afternoon, December-March (NE Monsoon) and June-September (SW Monsoon), when seasonal winds get thermally reinforced by daytime heating. After 2pm gives the coastal breeze time to fill in past the outer headlands.
