Nebraska's largest reservoir, known locally as "Big Mac" β genuinely wide open with long sandy beaches. Limited kitesurfing-specific documentation found, but the open plains setting suggests reliably strong wind.

Getting thereWestern Nebraska, about 3.5 hours northeast of Denver International Airport (DEN) via I-80 and Highway 61. A car is completely necessary for the sandy perimeter, and a paid Nebraska State Parks permit is required for all vehicles. Seagull Beach on the north side gives the cleanest sandy drive-in rigging flats.
HazardsAn open, massive body of water with heavy motorized boat traffic, hidden sandbars, and submerged trees depending on seasonal irrigation drawdowns. Watch for real freshwater shorebreak during strong easterly frontal storms β no dedicated on-site kite rescue support here.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when regional S or NW winds blow unobstructed across the open reservoir with a slight thermal boost from the surrounding sand hills. Late spring and early autumn bring the most powerful, consistent frontal wind windows.
