Good to know

Getting thereSouthwestern tip of the Bodrum peninsula near Akyarlar, about 55 minutes from Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV). A car is needed; free parking on the dirt and sand behind the Fener lighthouse beach promenade. The sandy hook near the local windsurf shacks is the primary entry.
HazardsA genuinely high-traffic marine channel — the Kos Strait between Turkey and Greece carries mega yachts, cross-border ferries, and high-speed windsurfers. True beginners should avoid this entirely: deep water starts instantly, the channel generates real current, and wind runs strongly side-offshore near the beach.
Best time of dayMorning through early afternoon, when the Meltemi funnels powerfully between Bodrum and Kos island. Peaks early in the day for a consistent breeze before turning slightly gusty in late afternoon heat.
