Getting thereGulf of Roses, about 55 minutes north of Girona Airport (GRO) via the AP-7. A car is required for gear; extensive free parking along the beachfront promenade streets or adjacent sand lots. The dedicated wind sports zone toward the northern end of the resort beach is the main access.
HazardsGenuinely restricted by strict summer municipal zoning to a narrow, buoy-marked channel — unauthorized launching brings real police fines. Watch for high-speed skydive planes overhead from the nearby airfield, and be cautious of sudden, violently strong offshore Tramontane wind.
Best time of dayAfternoon, May-September, when reliable solar heating builds a steady, predictable thermal Garbí wind from the SE. Post-midday gives steady onshore/side-onshore conditions past the light morning breeze.
