Getting thereAbout 1h45 south of Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN). A car is mandatory to drive the long, narrow, unpaved sand spit of El Trabucador beach — a municipal eco-fee applies for vehicle entry in peak season. Park directly on the packed sand tracks along the middle of the spit.
HazardsThe inner bay (Badia dels Alfacs) is very shallow for hundreds of meters, genuinely safe, though foil boards will strike the sandy mud bottom. The outer open-sea side is a different story — the powerful NW Tramontane blows strictly offshore there with zero rescue infrastructure, so this side is for confident upwind riders only.
Best time of dayAfternoon for the thermal SW GarbÃ, blowing side-onshore across the flat inner bay. Autumn/winter all-day sessions work well in the strong, cold Tramontane, but that requires solid upwind riding skill.
