Getting thereOn the South Holland/Zeeland border, roughly 1h15 from Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM). A car is essential; vast paid parking directly on the asphalt/sand flats behind the sea dike. 'The Kous' (a protected inside basin) and the open North Sea beach near the beach clubs are distinct access points.
HazardsThe North Sea side has real tidal current, moving sandbars, and a notable shorebreak; the inside basin can get extremely crowded. Local rules mandate staying within buoy-marked zones to avoid conflicts with windsurfers and swimmers.
Best time of dayAfternoon, as thermal enhancement stabilizes westerly sea breezes in summer. Check the tide table โ low tide exposes large flat sandbanks that give ideal flatwater conditions.
