Getting thereA drive to the Geyikli ferry port near Çanakkale, then a 35-minute car-ferry crossing to Bozcaada island. A car is essential to carry gear across the island to Çayır Beach on the northern coast; free parking in the dirt slots directly behind the beach. The wide, wild sandy bay gives direct entry.
HazardsFaces the open northern Aegean with a real, heavy shorebreak and structural rip current when the Meltemi blows hard. True beginners should avoid this beach entirely — deep water starts instantly and a kite malfunction washes you into a cold, choppy wave lineup with no rescue infrastructure.
Best time of dayMorning through afternoon, June-September, when the relentless northerly Meltemi blows directly onshore or cross-onshore into the bay. Early sessions get the cleanest wind before midday heat adds minor coastal turbulence.
