Getting thereGulf of Béjaïa, about 20 minutes east of Soummam-Abane Ramdane Airport (BJA) along the N9 coastal highway. A car is needed; free parking in the dirt lots behind the main seaside resorts at Tichy Beach. The wide beachfront gives a large, unobstructed launch.
HazardsSlopes off quickly into deep water close to shore, generating a moderate shorebreak and short, punchy chop. Stay well clear of designated swimmer zones in peak summer — solid upwind skill matters given the lack of on-site rescue craft.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when a stable thermal builds predictably from the NNW over the warm bay. Late afternoon gives stable cross-onshore tracking and manageable chop.
