Getting thereAbout 1.5 hours north of İzmir Airport (ADB) or 45 minutes from Balıkesir Koca Seyit Airport (EDO) via the E87. A car is completely mandatory for the unpaved salt-marsh tracks to the kite zone; free dirt parking directly behind the launch. The secluded lagoon flats near the Çamlık or Cunda causeway are the primary access.
HazardsA large, shallow flat-water lagoon, but low tide exposes sharp muddy sandbanks and hidden seagrass that can catch fins. Watch for the wind turning strongly cross-offshore over the outer sand spit — solid upwind skill matters to avoid getting stranded in the wide bay.
Best time of dayAfternoon, May-October, when the Meltemi gets compressed and thermally accelerated across the flat inland bays. Early afternoon gives the most reliable wind, launching just as the thermal stabilizes.
