Good to know

Getting thereMain eastern coast of Oman, about 3 hours southeast of Muscat via the highway through Sur. A car reaches town, but a 4x4 is essential for the sandy tracks onto the open ocean beaches; free parking directly on the sand behind the surf line. The wide beaches north of town center are the best launch.
HazardsA wild open-ocean wave spot with a real, brutal shorebreak and lateral undercurrent driven by the summer monsoon. Avoid peak summer months here โ€” ocean swell gets genuinely massive, with no dedicated public marine safety or rescue infrastructure.
Best time of dayAfternoon, June-September, when the Khareef monsoon brings cool maritime air thermally accelerated across the hot coastal dunes. Steady side-onshore tracking, far better than the calm mornings.
