Getting thereLocated in Santa Verónica, roughly a 45-minute drive from both Barranquilla Airport (BAQ) and Cartagena Airport (CTG) via the Vía del Mar. A car is highly recommended to reach the spot, with free parking available in the dirt lots directly behind the main kiteboarding hotels and schools. The wide sandy point provides the primary, clean launch and rigging area.
HazardsThe spot features a powerful, relentless shorebreak and short, punchy wind chop when the trade winds blow hard. True beginners will face a constant physical struggle to body-drag past the breaking waves, and they must stay alert to a sharp, shallow reef shelf located slightly downwind of the main point.
Best time of dayMid-morning through late afternoon, from December to April, when the trade winds blow with extreme consistency. The wind is incredibly stable all day long, so planning sessions around mid-tide helps mitigate the steepest shorebreak angles near the point.
