A more accessible stretch of La Guajira coast than the remote capes further north, with the same steady Caribbean trade wind and a genuine local kite scene.

Getting thereLocated in the La Guajira department, roughly a 25-minute drive north of Riohacha Airport (RCH) via the main coastal road. A car is necessary to transport equipment, with free parking available directly on the wide sandy dirt flats behind the local beachfront restaurants (rancherías). The open sandy beach provides a massive, completely unobstructed launch zone.
HazardsThe spot features an open sea environment with a moderate shorebreak and a powerful longshore current that constantly drags riders downwind. True beginners should look out for a few localized wooden fishing stakes close to shore, and remember that there are no organized public rescue boat services on this stretch of coast.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the intense equatorial trade winds are heavily accelerated by thermal suction from the dry desert interior. Arriving around mid-afternoon provides the most reliable wind strength and clean cross-onshore tracking angles.
