On Paros's west coast, facing Antiparos across a narrow strait that accelerates the Meltemi into a genuine wind corridor — often very strong in high season, with two schools on a beach that gets crowded fast.

Getting thereFly into Paros (PAS) or take a ferry to Parikia Port, then drive 10-15 minutes south to Pounda kite beach. A car or scooter helps for gear; a large free dirt lot sits directly behind the main kite schools and the Antiparos ferry terminal. Best access is the wide sandy beach right at the kite stations.
HazardsThe active Paros-Antiparos ferry path cuts directly through the northern end of the strait — strictly avoid it. Stay inside the wide lagoon shallows if inexperienced, and beware of localized currents through the center of the deep channel. Kiter traffic gets extremely high in July/August, raising collision risk, and sea urchins dot the rocky patches.
Best time of dayAfternoon, 2-6pm, when the northern Meltemi enters the narrow ~1km strait and triggers a strong venturi effect that can significantly amplify open-ocean wind strength. High tide is preferred to cover the shallowest sand flats in the lagoon.
