Good to know

Getting thereAbout 3 hours northwest from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) via Highway 10 North, then west from Wiarton along Oliphant Way. A car is required; parking is free along the beachfront road tracks. North Oliphant has the cleanest rigging lawns and a dedicated entry away from residential docks.
HazardsWater is ankle-to-waist deep for up to 500m out, hiding isolated rocks and slippery seasonal algae under the sand. In offshore or side-offshore wind, the shallows can lull riders into drifting far downwind into deeper channels with no rescue available. Foilers should avoid this spot entirely unless using ultra-short masts โ€” grounding out is a constant risk.
Best time of dayMid-morning through late afternoon, tide-independent (freshwater lake). Clean W, SW, or NW wind gives the flattest, smoothest water behind the outer islands.
