A shallow, sandy lagoon near Zadar on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, filled by the same Maestral thermal that makes this stretch of the Adriatic reliable through summer — one of the region's best places to learn.

Good to know

Getting thereZadar region, about 30 minutes from Zadar Airport (ZAD). A car is necessary to reach the long sandy spit known as Queen's Beach (Kraljičina Plaža), with a paid municipal dirt lot in summer. A short 3-minute walk across a shallow sandy inlet from parking reaches the main kite launch.
HazardsA large, knee-deep sandy lagoon is generally very safe, but conditions can turn extreme. When the regional Bura blows from the NE, it's genuinely violently gusty and strictly offshore — capable of blowing an inexperienced rider out into the deep Adriatic with no public rescue available.
Best time of dayMorning for the fierce, cold NE Bura, or afternoon when a light, stable thermal Maestral builds from the NW. The afternoon Maestral is the better choice for beginners — predictable, side-onshore, calmer water.
