Good to know

Getting thereLocated south of Luanda, requiring a 45-minute drive to the Benfica or Embarcadouro docks, followed by a 10-to-15-minute public or private water taxi crossing to the peninsula. There are no paved roads on the spit; all transit is on foot or via beach buggy, with staging done directly from the sandy lagoon-facing resort beaches.
HazardsThe inside lagoon features perfectly flat water but drops off into deep navigation channels with strong tidal currents. True beginners must be highly competent at upwind riding to avoid getting dragged into active boat lanes, and they should look out for hidden sandbar drop-offs and low-tide shallow spots.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the dominant south-southwest winds blow flawlessly side-shore along the peninsula. The thermal engine peaks between 14:00 and 17:00, delivering the cleanest and most reliable wind density over the flat lagoon water.
