Getting thereNear East Petpeswick, about 45 minutes east of Halifax via Highway 107 and the Martinique Beach Road. A car is required; free parking in designated sand dune lots running parallel to the coast. Paths from the gravel parking zones lead directly to the 5km white sand beach.
HazardsAn open Atlantic setting with real shorebreak at high tide and stronger lateral undercurrent during spring tides. The vast sand bottom makes this genuinely forgiving, but be ready for large rolling waves, and watch for hidden rock shelves at the far northern end.
Best time of dayThree hours either side of high tide, balancing a wide sandy beach with manageable current. Afternoon sessions get a thermal compression boost on the prevailing SW trades for stable cross-onshore conditions.
