Good to know

Getting thereNorthern shore of Lake Erie, about 2 hours southwest of Hamilton via Highway 6 and regional road 59. A car is required; public parking inside Long Point Provincial Park or free dirt pull-offs along the Causeway road. The sandy spit at the park entrance is the primary access.
HazardsThe narrow causeway launch has a busy main road, telephone wires, and private property fences directly downwind โ€” genuinely no room for launch errors. Watch for real tidal-like current funneling through the inner bay inlet, and a heavy, dumping freshwater shorebreak on the outer lake side.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when regional SW or S winds blow unobstructed across the long axis of Lake Erie for steady side-onshore conditions, better than the calm mornings.
