A long floating pontoon running out into deep water at the Llanberis end of Llyn Padarn, right by the watersports shop, with Snowdon behind it. Powered boats are not allowed on the lake so it stays flat, and an unpowered board is not caught by that. Café in the same building, country park pier and a slipway further along the shore. Pay-and-display at the Gilfach Ddu country park car park. The lake is an SSSI — check, clean and dry your kit — and organised group sessions need a paid permit from the park. The lake bed is sharp slate and drops away suddenly.
