WaterFlat, crystal clear
A remote Caribbean island reached only by boat, with a dedicated kite and wingfoil school on a long, coconut-palm-lined beach โ genuinely different character from the Pacific-side spots, warm, clear water and steady trade wind.

Getting thereA domestic flight from Managua to Big Corn Island (RNI), then a bumpy 30-40 minute public panga boat to Little Corn Island. No cars or motorized vehicles on the island โ gear is carried on foot along concrete paths to Cocal Beach on the east coast. The beach in front of Otto Beach or the local dive shacks is the main entry.
HazardsA sharp, vibrant fringing coral reef sits close to shore, creating a flat lagoon that gets dangerously shallow at low tide. Wear thick booties for sea urchins, and watch for shallow coral heads that can catch fins or damage hydrofoil masts.
Best time of dayMid-to-high tide, for enough depth over the reef. Morning through early afternoon has the cleanest trade winds, December-May, before localized cloud cover turns the breeze variable.
