Getting thereEastern Shore of Nova Scotia, about 35 minutes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) via Route 207. A car is completely necessary for the coastal roads; free parking in the main lots at Lawrencetown Beach Provincial Park. The wide beach below the main surf pavilions is the primary entry.
HazardsA world-class, high-intensity surf spot with a massive Atlantic shorebreak, freezing water, and a real rip current tracking along the eastern rocky point. True beginners should avoid this open beach entirely — deep water starts instantly and the lineup has a real concentration of committed local surfers.
Best time of dayAfternoon, spring through early autumn, when prevailing SW wind gets thermally accelerated along the Nova Scotian cliffs. Late afternoon brings the most powerful, consistent wind and cleanest wave faces.
