Lake Simcoe has a genuinely active local kite scene, with named spots for nearly every wind direction (Keswick, Beaverton, Lagoon City) run by Toronto-based instructors. Willow Beach specifically has less documentation than those named spots, but shares the same lake and general wind pattern.

Getting thereToronto Pearson (YYZ), then about 1 hour north via ON-404 to Georgina on Lake Simcoe's south shore. A car is necessary; Willow Beach Conservation Area parking is restricted and needs a paid non-resident day pass or decal. The main sandy entryway is the only viable rigging zone.
HazardsThe shoreline is tightly lined with mature willows, park fences, and low power lines — real wind-shadow and kite-entanglement risk. Watch for heavy summer boat traffic and swimmers. The lake drops off into deep water relatively close to shore, so solid self-rescue and upwind body-dragging skills matter here.
Best time of dayLate afternoon, when cold N or NW fronts move cleanly across the lake's wide axis, avoiding the tree turbulence. Non-tidal; early spring or late autumn avoids the crowds.
