Getting thereMontreal-Trudeau (YUL), then about 1h15 southeast via Autoroute 35 South to Venise-en-Québec near the US border. A car is required — the town lacks a public sandy beach, so the best access is through private campgrounds like Camping Plage Champlain (paid daily visitor fee). Free access for experienced riders exists via the rocky shoreline at Parc Jameson.
HazardsThe bay floor has sharp rock fragments, submerged branches, and old wooden stakes — protective footwear is a good idea. The Quebec Kite Federation posts a local code of ethics at the three main access gates to keep riders out of swimming zones. The extensive shallow shelf can mean hard board-slams on jumps or falls.
Best time of dayMidday through late afternoon, when a S or SW wind blows cleanly the length of the lake into the bay. Spring/early summer gives the most consistent frontal wind before late-summer doldrums.
