Getting thereDowntown Toronto, foot of Cherry Street near Lakeshore Boulevard and the Don Valley Parkway. A car helps but TTC bus service from Union Station also reaches it. The large asphalt lot facing the beach is free but fills fast on warm or windy days.
HazardsThe launch borders the active Eastern Gap shipping channel — stay clear of ferries, container ships, and rowing crews. The narrow sandy launch is backed by trees, concrete barriers, and off-leash dogs (a real line-tangling risk). Water quality drops and bacteria can spike right after heavy rain.
Best time of daySpring and autumn afternoons, when cold fronts sweep Lake Ontario from the SW or E for the cleanest, strongest wind. Tide-independent; arrive early in summer to beat beachgoer crowds.
