Getting thereJardines del Rey archipelago, about 45 minutes from Jardines del Rey Airport (CCC) or 7 hours from Havana. A rental car or hotel shuttle is required to cross the long causeway (pedraplén); free parking at resort gates or Playa Pilar. The beach in front of Cayo Guillermo Resort Kempinski or local kite centers is the main access.
HazardsA large, shallow flat-water lagoon, but low tide exposes sharp coral rock and sandbanks on the outer perimeter. Watch for offshore wind transitions near the resort structures, and stay clear of the marked guest swimming zones.
Best time of dayMorning through afternoon, November-April, when Atlantic trades blow smoothly cross-onshore. Early sessions get the most stable wind before midday tropical heat brings light turbulence.
