Getting thereCharlottetown (YYG), then roughly 35-40 minutes north via Route 6 and Graham's Lane into Prince Edward Island National Park. A car is mandatory; a Parks Canada daily entry pass (~$10 CAD/adult) is required late June through Labour Day. The Cavendish Beach Main Complex lot is the closest access to the sandy launch zones.
HazardsThe ocean side has real rolling surf, shifting sandbars, and heavy shorebreak that can easily roll a downed kite. Parks Canada water safety rules require staying at least 200m from designated swimming areas, and there's no motorized rescue here. Temporary beach closures protect endangered piping plover nesting sites along the dunes — respect them.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when regional maritime trade winds align with local thermal coastal currents. A rising mid-tide gives enough depth over the interior sand banks for a foil or directional board.
