Wind forecasts and spots work in any browser. To record sessions from your wrist, pick your phone and your watch and we’ll show you exactly what to install.
Pick your phone and your watch to see your steps.
Every combination is listed below.
iPhone + Garmin
Everything works: jumps, height, airtime, speed, GPS track and heart rate.
- Install WGG for iPhone.
- Install WGG on your Garmin watch.
Install it from the Connect IQ Store app on your phone, with your watch paired in Garmin Connect. Check that your watch is supported — 40 Garmin models are.
- Ride, then sync.Open WGG on the watch and press Start. When you’re done, keep WGG open on the watch and open the WGG iPhone app — the session comes across and a New session ready notice appears. Tap it, choose the spot and discipline, and upload. Nothing is published until you do; sessions are private unless you share them.
iPhone + Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app comes with the iPhone app — one install.
- Install WGG for iPhone.
The watch app installs with it. If it doesn’t appear on the watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone → Available Apps → WGG → Install. Supported Apple Watch models.
- Ride, then sync.Open WGG on the watch and press Start. Afterwards, open WGG on your iPhone to review the session, choose the spot and upload it.
iPhone, other watch or no watch
Forecasts, spots and the community work on any phone. Session logging works by file.
- Use windygalaxy.com, or install WGG for iPhone.
In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen to keep windygalaxy.com on your phone like an app.
- Log your sessions by file.Export the session from your watch’s own app as a GPX, TCX or FIT file, then upload it on windygalaxy.com within a week of the ride: open your spot and tap Log a session. The form explains where to find the file for Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung, Hoolan and Wear OS.
Android + Garmin
Everything works: jumps, height, airtime, speed, GPS track and heart rate.
- Install WGG for Android.⬇ Download the WGG test app for Android APK
- Tap the button on your Android phone. Chrome may ask if you want to keep the file — tap Download.
- Open the downloaded file (from the notification or the Files app). The first time, Android asks to allow installs from Chrome: tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, go back and tap Install.
- If Google Play Protect says the app is unknown, tap More details → Install anyway. It’s a test build that isn’t on Google Play yet.
- Open WGG, allow notifications (that’s how a new session reaches you) and sign in with your email. When a newer test version is ready, the app tells you.
- Install WGG on your Garmin watch.
Install it from the Connect IQ Store app on your phone, with your watch paired in Garmin Connect. Check that your watch is supported — 40 Garmin models are.
- Ride, then sync.Open WGG on the watch and press Start. When you’re done, keep WGG open on the watch and open the WGG Android app — the session comes across and a New session ready notice appears. Tap it, choose the spot and discipline, and upload. Nothing is published until you do; sessions are private unless you share them.
The app is going on Google Play, and Google needs 12 riders to test it for two weeks first. Leave the Google account you use on your Android phone and we’ll send you the invite — you’ll get updates automatically from then on. (When the invite arrives, delete the test app first: Android won’t install the Play version over it. Everything you’ve uploaded stays on windygalaxy.com.)
Android + Apple Watch
An Apple Watch can only be set up with an iPhone, so it can’t work with an Android phone — for WGG or anything else. If you also have an iPhone, see iPhone + Apple Watch. Otherwise, sessions can still be logged by file.
Android, other watch or no watch

Computer + Garmin, no smartphone
The watch needs a phone to send sessions straight to WGG. Without one, the file route gets you everything.
- Install WGG on your Garmin watch.
Install it with Garmin Express on your computer, or from the Connect IQ Store. Check that your watch is supported — 40 Garmin models are.
- Upload from Garmin Connect.Record with WGG on the watch as usual. The watch also saves every session to Garmin Connect, so you can download it there (connect.garmin.com → open the activity → ⚙ → Export File) and upload it on windygalaxy.com within a week of the ride: open your spot and tap Log a session. A .fit file keeps the jumps.
