Getting thereLocated right within the coastal city of Pointe-Noire, roughly a 15-minute drive from Antonio-Agostinho-Neto International Airport (PNR). A car or city taxi is useful for gear, with public free parking available along the unpaved spaces of the Côte Sauvage or the inner bay road. The sandy beach curves near the local nautical clubs provide the cleanest access.
HazardsThe open-ocean side (Côte Sauvage) features a brutal, heavy shorebreak and fierce rip currents that make launching highly dangerous for beginners. Inexperienced riders should strictly stick to the protected inner harbor bay areas, keeping a safe distance from industrial commercial shipping lanes, anchored oil supply vessels, and local fishing nets.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the southwest thermal wind builds cleanly against the hot Central African coastline. The breeze typically turns on like clockwork after 13:00, providing wide, clean, side-onshore paths with minimal wave interference inside the bay.
