At the mouth of the Cetina river canyon on the Dalmatian coast — a genuine bora wind spot, powerful and cold-season, completely different character from Croatia's gentler summer maestral beaches further north.

Good to know

Getting thereAbout 25km south of Split along the D8 coastal highway, roughly 35 minutes by car. A vehicle is needed for gear; paid municipal parking along the sandy beach promenade. The expansive shoreline at the mouth of the Cetina River is the primary access.
HazardsA river estuary setting where mixing currents create unpredictable swirling and shifting sandbars close to shore. Stay clear of the crowded summer swimmer zones, and watch for sudden, genuinely violent downslope gusts (Bura) coming off the nearby Cetina canyon walls — this specific canyon is well known in wind-sport circles for producing dangerous, unpredictable katabatic gusts.
Best time of dayAfternoon, once intense solar heating over the limestone cliffs triggers a reliable NW thermal sea breeze. Usually on post-midday for consistent onshore tracking across the shallow sandy floor.
