Good to know

Getting thereEast Cape of Baja California Sur, about 45 minutes north of Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) via Highway 1. A car or ATV is needed for the sandy coastal roads; free parking on the beach flats outside windsport hotels like Playa de Sol or Palmas de Cortez. The beach in front of local kiteboarding schools is the primary entry.
HazardsWind runs cross-shore at a genuine 20-30kt, generating large rolling swell and a punchy shorebreak at high tide. Watch for the rapid transition to deep water, shorebreak-driven current, and heavy ATV/dune buggy traffic running along the launch sand lanes.
Best time of dayLate morning through afternoon, November-April, when the northern winter winds (El Norte) get amplified by the Sea of Cortez's thermal draw. After 11am the wind has typically filled in fully across the bay for powerful, consistent tracking.
