The calm, sheltered spot in the Six-Fours cluster β€” the Embiez islands block the swell, making this where locals learn wingfoil. Kitesurfing is banned here in summer by official prefectoral order, strictly enforced, so treat this as a summer wing and windsurf spot, not a kite one. Rocky, technical water entry.

Good to know

Getting thereSix-Fours-les-Plages, about 45 minutes west of Toulon-Hyères Airport (TLN). A car is required; paid municipal parking at Port du Brusc or near the Gaou park entrance. The shallow lagoon known as Petit Gaou, opposite Les Embiez island, is the main access.
HazardsVery shallow water over sharp seagrass beds, underwater rocks, and narrow channels bordered by walking paths. Follow the local zoning that separates wind sports from boat lanes, and avoid strong westerly wind, which brings real chop near the reef lines.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when a warm SW thermal builds predictably over the bay. Early afternoon gives the most reliable wind and lines up with local tide heights for adequate depth over the shallow rocky shelf.
