Cambodia's only spot with a dedicated IKO kite school, in a wide, shallow bay with Bokor Mountain and Phu Quoc Island as a backdrop โ€” genuinely good for beginners, shallow enough to just stand up after a fall.

Good to know

Getting thereSouthern coast, about 2.5 hours from Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS) or 3 hours from Phnom Penh via NH3. A car or tuk-tuk is needed for the rural tracks to the river estuary flats; free dirt parking near local eco-bungalows. Shallow sandbanks near Kep beach or the Prek Tuek Chhou river mouth are the main entries.
HazardsHighly variable water depth with hidden wooden fishing stakes, shallow sandbanks, and local seaweed farming plots close to shore. Watch for wind shadows from the nearby Bokor Mountain range and real tidal current when the river is draining.
Best time of dayAfternoon, May-September during the Southwest Monsoon, when thermal heating over the Cambodian landmass drives a reliable sea breeze โ€” usually on by 1pm for steady side-onshore paths.
