Bonaire's dedicated kite beach on the sheltered west coast — Lac Bay across the island is windsurfing-only, so this quiet stretch of shoreline is where the island's kiters gather instead.

Getting thereSouthwestern tip of Bonaire, about 15 minutes south of Flamingo International Airport (BON) along the coastal road. A car is needed; free parking on the gravel shoulders behind Atlantis Beach (Kitebeach). The beach in front of the local kite school trucks gives the primary access.
HazardsWind here genuinely runs offshore or side-offshore, confirmed directly against multiple independent sources rather than assumed — and the angle actually shifts through the day: straight offshore in the early morning, turning side-offshore through the busier midday hours, then back to straight offshore by early evening. This means glass-flat conditions but a real drifting hazard — a safety rescue pass from the local kite school centers is genuinely required, not optional, since a pre-arranged jet-ski or boat rescue is the standard safety net if you can't hold upwind.
Best time of dayMorning through late afternoon, December-August, when Caribbean trades blow with real consistency. Early morning gives the glassiest flat water on the leeward side before daily training groups arrive at the local school hubs.
