Good to know

Getting thereNorthern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, about 15 minutes south of King Hussein International Airport (AQJ). A car or taxi is needed; public parking along the main southern beach highway. H&S Water Sports in Tala Bay, South Beach, is the only legal kite center in Aqaba โ€” local coastline and land regulations mean there's no independent, unsupervised launching here at all.
HazardsWind here runs side-shore roughly 80-90% of the time, per the local operator's own data โ€” not the straight offshore wind sometimes assumed for this gulf. Regardless of direction, kiting without a rescue boat is not permitted in Aqaba at all, and this is strictly enforced given the deep water close to shore. On windy days expect 18-22kt, suitable for all levels; days over 35kt are intermediate-to-advanced only.
Best time of dayThe windy season runs roughly mid-March to mid-October, with July-August typically lighter than the rest. Morning through midday is generally most stable, before the desert heat can make afternoons gustier.
